Trakai Day Trip
We'll meet at 11 am in Odminiu Square in Vilnius and set off on a 40-minute bus journey to Trakai, a beautiful town 40-minutes away that's surrounded by five lakes. On our way there, we'll you'll be able to listen to your audio guide in English to learn all about the history of this place.
When we get to Trakai, you'll have 2 hours 30 minutes of free time to explore the city or the castle at your leisure. If you choose to explore the castle, you'll need to head to the shores of Lake Galvé. When you get there, you'll see Trakai Castle on a small island. Did you know that it's considered the most beautiful medieval fortress in Lithuania?
To get to the castle, you'll need to walk across the drawbridge just like one of the Teutonic Knights! Once you're inside the castle, you'll explore grand rooms full of medieval furniture, costumes and maps. Next, you can walk up to the Grand Duke's Tower and climb the wooden stairs to visit the rest of the rooms - you'll feel like you've travelled back in time to the Middle Ages!
It'll then be time to regroup at our designated meeting point in Trakai and set off on our return journey to the Lithuanian capital. We'll arrive back at the starting point in Vilnius at 3 pm.
