10 Must-See Destinations to Travel
Already thinking about the adventures and getaways this new year has in store for you? Here at Civitatis, we’ve compiled a list of 10 must-see destinations to travel this year to help you out with trip planning. In this selection, you’ll find everything from cities holding special events this upcoming year to places that never go out of style.
Canary Islands, the Hawaii of Spain
This archipelago located off the coast of northern Africa is made up of 7 main islands, as well as many smaller ones and islets. It’s known for being the “sunshine center of Europe“. It offers stunning natural attractions and fantastic temperatures year-round.

One of the absolutely unmissable islands is the one known as La Palma. We’ve added it to our list of must-see destinations because of it’s impressive efforts throughout 2022 to get back on its feet after a cataclysmic volcanic eruption the previous year. And, of course, the island has a seemingly infinite amount of natural attractions that will leave you spellbound. We recommend stargazing in the dazzlingly clear night skies. For nature lovers, hiking in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park or in the Los Tilos forest is a must. And for those looking for some well-deserved relaxation, going on a yacht cruise should be on the to-do list… you can even take a trip to see the molten lava rivers of the still-active volcano. There are endless activities for everyone!
Liverpool
If you travel to Liverpool this year, we recommend checking out the free tour or doing a fascinating Liverpool history tour. You’ll learn about the history and the most emblematic monuments of the city, as well as many of its little-known secrets. Also, if you’re a Beatles fan, you can’t miss a trip to Strawberry Field and this complete Beatles circuit.

New York, a Destination that Never Goes out of Style
No matter the season and no matter the year. New York is a city to fall in love with in spring, summer, autumn, or winter. Also, it’s a destination worth repeating if you’ve already been. Why not travel to this legendary city this year?
Despite what many people think about the high cost of a trip to the city that never sleeps, the truth is that there are many ways to visit NYC on a budget. Consider getting a Go City: New York City Explorer Pass or taking a free tour. You can also enjoy a free boat ride to see the Statue of Liberty. The Big Apple awaits!

Kenya, a Unique Way to Escape the Everyday
Kenya is a very common destination for honeymooners. If you’re organizing your wedding, this country can be an ideal place to travel. A romantic safari in Amboseli National Park or Aberdare National Park from Nairobi, meeting the indigenous tribes of the famous Masai Mara reserve, an exotic meal at The Carnivore restaurant… Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family or friends, Kenya is sure to leave you in awe.

Camino de Santiago
The Camino de Santiago, sometimes called the Way of Saint James, is a world-renowned pilgrimage of medieval origin. It leads hikers or pilgrims on a journey toward Santiago de Compostela, a city in northern Spain. There are a number of routes you can choose from that start in different parts of Spain and even other areas all over Europe. We recommend checking out the Camino Francés and the Camino del Norte.
Once you arrive in Santiago, we recommend taking a guided tour of the Cathedral and its museum. You’ll learn about the fascinating history of this church and why it’s so important in the Christian faith. Also, during your stay in the city, you’ll be able to enter the mysterious world of the meigas (traditional Galician witches) or visit some breathtaking nearby coastal locations.

Florence, One of the Most Beautiful Cities in the World
The city of the Italian Renaissance par excellence is so beautiful that people say there’s even a “medical condition” related to it. Does Stendhal syndrome ring a bell? They say that those who visit Florence are so overwhelmed by its unique beauty and art that it causes their heart rate to rise and you can feel a sense of confusion or vertigo. It’s clear why we’re including it in this list of must-see destinations!
The Santa Maria dei Fiore Cathedral, the baptistery of San Giovanni, Giotto’s bell tower, and the views from the Piazzale Michelangelo are some of the city’s greatest attractions. We also recommend a guided tour of the spectacular Galleria dell’Accademia. So many must-sees in the capital of Tuscany!

Maldives, the Perfect Tropical Getaway
Going to the Maldives is a real journey to peace and tranquility. Paradise beaches, crystal-clear waters, hospitable people, boat rides, and magical sunsets… No matter the time of year, this tropical island archipelago is always a good idea and guaranteed to capture your heart. Besides being a year-round destination, it’s an essential bucket-list place.

Merida, Cultural Capital of the Yucatan
Merida is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Mexico and the cultural capital of the Yucatan peninsula. Here you’ll find the first basilica built in continental America, you can see colonial houses built by the Spanish conquistadors and a large French mansion from the early twentieth century.
If you take a guided tour of Mérida, you’ll also get to delve into the distant past of this region. Learn about when it was known as T’Hó in the times of the Mayan civilization!

Uzbekistan, Along the Silk Route
Looking simply at weather conditions, April and May are the best months to visit Uzbekistan. Being a desert country, it’s usually quite hot and dry during the summer. So late spring is the ideal time to explore this part of the Silk Road. We’ve included it on this list due to the fact that it has been so overwhelmingly voted one of the top emerging must-see destinations by so many travelers in the past few years.

There are countless itineraries to choose from, but a visit to the city of Samarkand, known for its impressive mosques and mausoleums, and distinctive blue mosaics, is an absolute must. We also recommend checking out the various hiking tours around the country, given that its mountain ranges are, in our opinion, some of the most breathtaking in Central Asia.
