A Brief Look at the Past

Baiona first made its mark in history in 1493, when it became the first European port to hear news of Columbus's discovery of America, thanks to the arrival of the caravel Pinta. The town’s impressive medieval walls and the Monterreal Fortress are lasting reminders of its strategic importance and storied past.
