Cusco, Rainbow Mountain, and Machu Picchu 4-Day Tour
Day 1: Cusco
In the morning, we will be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal of Cusco airport. From there, we head to the hotel so you can check into your room and leave your valuable belongings. You then have your own free time until 2 pm when we pick you up and head to the first destination on our fantastic tour, the Inca temple of Coricancha (The Golden Courtyard) where we take a fantastic 45-minute tour. We will also visit the archeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Qenko, and Puka Pukara, where you will hear all about their fascinating history.
And before returning to the hotel, we will make one last stop in Tambomachay, also known as the Bath of the Inca, where water-based worship rituals were traditionally practiced. We will arrive back at the hotel in Cusco at around 7 pm.
Day 2: Rainbow Mountain
We will leave the hotel very early to start a 2-hour and a half journey to the town of Anchi Pacha. There, we will enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast as a real adventure awaits us in an incredible place. After eating, we will begin a walk along the Quesyuno path, located more than 13,000 feet high.
Along the way, we will have impressive views of the mighty Ausangate mountain and, if we are lucky, we will encounter some llama, the typical animals of the Andes. Finally, we will arrive at one of the most fascinating places in Peru: Rainbow Mountain, which seems to have fallen from the sky. You will hear all about the legends which surround this area. You will find out why this mountain is said to have a soul of its own.
At the end of the guided route through this colourful spot, we will start the descent and take you to eat at a local restaurant. After this, we will return to Cusco, arriving there at 6:30 pm.
Day 3: Machu Picchu
No trip to Peru should miss Machu Picchu and this is your opportunity to see one of the wonders of the world. We will leave the hotel in Cusco at around 4 am and then head towards Ollantaytambo station. There, we will board a train and set off on a spectacular railway route, through stunning mountain landscapes, towards the town of Agua Calientes.
Once in Aguas Calientes, we then catch a bus that will take us up to what is widely considered to be one of the wonders of the world: Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Inca Empire. We will take a fascinating guided tour of the ancient citadel and learn all about the secrets hidden in its ruins.
We will finish the tour returning to Aguas Calientes where we enjoy a delicious lunch before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo and, from there a bus to Cusco.
Day 4: Cusco
On the last day, you will have the morning free to continue exploring the city of Cusco. You can visit emblematic places such as the Plaza de Armas, the neighborhood of San Blas, the Piedra de Doce Angulos (stone of twelve sides), and the local San Pedro market.
