Hoa Lu and Tam Coc Full-Day Tour
Description
Having picked you up at your hotel in Hanoi at the scheduled time, we'll hit the road southwards towards the Ninh Binh region. During the two-hour journey, we'll make a 20-minute stop so that you can hop out and buy some traditional Vietnamese souvenirs, such as lacquerware, paintings or embroidery.
Once we arrive in Hoa Lu, we'll visit the citadel of what was once the Vietnamese capital in the 10th century. Temples, pagodas and other monuments so characteristic of the beautiful architecture of the region abound.
Towards midday, we'll make our way to Tam Coc to eat in a local restaurant. And having eaten, we'll take a rowboat along the calm waters of the Ngo Dong river to explore the rice fields. Throughout the route, you'll see three caves known as the 'magic grottoes': Hang Ca, Hang Hai, and Hang Ba. And during the journey, you'll feel the historic importance of this breathtakingly beautiful region.
After an incredible day filled with beautiful mountain and river scenery, you'll head back to Hanoi, where you'll return to your hotel 11 hours after departure.
Rice fields in Tam Coc
In Tam Coc, there is one rice harvest per year. They sow the seeds in February and harvest in May, making these months the best time to visit the area. But the landscape is spectacular, and the visit truly worthwhile at any time of year.
