Do you know about the Yoruba religion and santería? Delve into the deepest secrets of this religion with this tour of Havana.
At 10 am, our journey into the Yoruba religion begins as we gather at Central Plaza. From there, we'll stroll towards the Casa de Africa Museum.
During the 15-minute walk, the iconic Obispo Street, bustling with activity in Havana, will unfold before us. Keep an eye out for santeros (Yoruba priests) in their first year of initiation, donned in traditional pristine white attire.
Upon reaching the museum, immerse yourself in the profound secrets of the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and made its way to Cuba during the colonial period through practicing slaves. Santería might sound familiar, right?
A brief drive will then take us to Hamel Alley, the focal point of Afro-Cuban culture in the city. Here, soak in the typical music and admire the vibrant murals adorning the walls. You'll also have free time to explore this captivating corner on your own.
Continuing our journey, we'll visit the home of a santera, one of the most intriguing spots in Havana. The priestess will share insights into the various rituals of the Yoruba religion. Feel free to ask her about your future if you dare!
Our guided tour concludes around 2 pm as we return to the starting point.
You can book up to 1 day in advance if there are any seats left. Book now and guarantee your spot.
