Isabela Island Wetlands Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Isabela Island to kick off our tour of the wetlands in the region. It's the perfect plan to uncover the Galapagos Island archipelago's rich biodiversity!
First up, we'll head to Puerto Villamil Beach, where we'll hop in a car and travel to the marshes. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for the iconic Galapagos sea turtles that call this island home. Upon arrival in the marshes, you'll quickly see how the area is composed of lagoons, swamps, and mangroves. It's no wonder this ecosystem is home to a number of unique bird species!
Here, we'll also be able to see flamingos and, for any bird aficionados in the group, teros, curlews, and coots. As we spot these different aviary species, we'll discuss the intricate details of this unique ecosystem only found here. In fact, we'll check out the only place in the Galapagos where you can see all four types of mangrove forests up close.
Next up? Cerro Orchilla viewpoint. Here, we'll climb a few flights of stairs for some of the most privileged views of the island. Our final stop of the day is at the famous Wall of Tears, for a closer look at the somber history on the island.
Before wrapping up our day, we'll pause for a ham and cheese sandwich paired with fresh fruit and juice.
Then, after 4 hours immersed in the magic of the Galapagos, we'll head back to your hotel on Isabela Island.
