Porto Private Day Trip
Day Trip Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Lisbon, we’ll head north on a journey of approximately 3 hours to Porto. There, we’ll discover this mercantile, episcopal, and port city, shaped by granite, Baroque style, and iron engineering. Let’s get started!
Upon arrival, we’ll begin a guided tour, seeing the Church of Carmo, one of the great examples of Porto’s Rococo style. We’ll admire its undulating façade and, above all, its famous tiled side wall, added in 1912.
We’ll continue to São Bento Station, built at the beginning of the 20th century on the site of the former Convent of São Bento de Avé-Maria. In its vestibule, we’ll observe one of Portugal’s main iconographic displays: 20000 tiles by Jorge Colaço that depict the country’s history and the evolution of transport.
Afterward, we’ll head to the Church of Saint Francis, the city’s main Gothic temple, whose Baroque interior, covered in gilded carvings, earned it the nickname “Golden Church.” When you get hungry, we’ll give you 1 hour of free time to enjoy lunch on your own.
Later, we’ll visit the Clérigos Tower, one of the city’s most iconic Baroque landmarks. The tour will then take us to the Dom Luís I Bridge, a masterpiece of iron architecture inaugurated in 1886. Its structure will help us understand the technical dimension of 19th-century Porto.
Finally, we’ll return to Lisbon, where we’ll say our goodbyes by dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 10 hours.
