Hidden Monterrey Tour
Tour Details
Welcome to the capital of Nuevo León! Ready to discover the city’s lesser-known side? To begin, we’ll meet in front of LABNL Lab Cultural Ciudadano, where we’ll start this walking tour of Monterrey.
First, we’ll explore the surroundings of Macroplaza and move away from the usual tourist areas to discover streets that reflect Monterrey’s character and essence. Along the way, we’ll learn some secrets that are only shared at the bar counters of certain venues and discover what daily life is like for locals, known as regiomontanos.
Next, we’ll head to Mercado Juárez... but not to go shopping. We’ll visit stalls dedicated to esotericism, where a wide range of herbal products are also sold.
During the tour, we’ll uncover the mystical side of Nuevo León, learning about popular beliefs, “limpia” rituals, and remedies that locals have used for generations. It’ll be a unique sensory immersion into the folklore of northern Mexico!
After visiting the market, we’ll head to two underground spots, far from the trendy cantinas. The first will be Bar Centenario, one of the oldest in the city. There, we’ll enjoy a drink while learning about its history and cultural significance. We’ll also reveal some anecdotes related to Monterrey’s social life in the past.
Finally, after 2 hours exploring hidden Monterrey, we’ll end the tour at El Forum bar. At this venue, we’ll also toast with a drink while uncovering interesting facts about the city’s nightlife.
