Experience the vibrant beat of Montevideo's renowned Carnival at this captivating open-air show. It's a dazzling and magical experience in Uruguay - not to be missed!
Why see the Montevideo Carnival?
We'll meet at the entrance of Tablado Primero de Mayo, the venue for the Montevideo Carnival show. Did you know that the Montevideo Carnival is one of the world's longest in duration, spanning about 40 consecutive nights? This spectacular event fills Uruguay's capital with vibrant life and color.
During the show, we'll be treated to performances by 5 different categories of artistic groups: murgas (musical theater-like performances), comedians, parodists, revistas (dancers), and comparsas (street performers with dazzling costumes). These groups take the stage at open-air venues known as tablados, which have been central to the carnival's cultural heritage since the early 20th century.
We'll have the opportunity to experience between 3 and 6 different shows, in Spanish, outside the more tourist areas, providing an authentic glimpse into the local carnival culture.
The event will last between 3-5 hours.
