New York City Midtown Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet under the iconic clock in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Terminal. From here, we'll kick off our guided tour of Grand Central Terminal, Chrysler, and the United Nations.
First, we'll head to Vanderbilt Avenue and 42nd Street, where we'll see the statue of Cornelius Vanderbilt and Mercury. We'll learn about the Vanderbilt family, who were key players in developing the city's central railroad system. You'll discover how Grand Central shaped Midtown before we stop at Park Avenue Viewpoint to take photos with the stunning views of Park Avenue and Midtown's skyline.
We'll then reach the Chrysler Building, one of the world's most beautiful Art Deco skyscrapers. Here, the guide will tell you the dramatic story of the secret race to build the tallest building in the city. We'll explore Tudor City, a hidden residential site with skyline views and the old charm of New York.
Afterward, we'll stop outside the United Nations headquarters to learn why it chose New York as its location and the organization's global impact. We'll also discover how UNICEF helps children worldwide and why its headquarters are in the Big Apple. Did you know about Audrey Hepburn's humanitarian work? We'll share her efforts and deep connection to New York City.
Then, we'll go to 48th Street. Here, we'll see the "Good Defeats Evil" statue of St. George slaying the dragon, full of symbolism and history. This is one of Midtown's most surprising sculptures! We'll also tell you about Stephen Sondheim, the legendary Broadway composer behind West Side Story and many more classics.
Finally, we'll see the 9/11 Memorial Mural, a moving public artwork honoring the victims of 9/11 and the resilience of New York. Our guided tour will finish after 2 hours in front of the iconic Waldorf Astoria hotel, where many presidents and celebrities of the past once stayed.
