On this day trip to Llachon from Puno, you'll discover the rich heritage of the Peruvian Altiplano in 1 or 2 days. In this Quechua-speaking community, the local families will invite you to take part in their traditions and you'll be amazed by their warm hospitality.
1 or 2-Day Trip Details
1-Day Tour
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puno to begin this exciting adventure toward the heart of Lake Titicaca. Are you ready for a very special day?
Once we reach the lake, we'll board a speedboat to sail toward the famous island of Uros, where you'll meet their inhabitants and learn about their traditions and daily life. Did you know these islands were built from a typha plant?
From here, we'll continue our tour on a speedboat toward the Llachon community, where the families will greet us with open arms, offering kantu necklaces and a muña infusion. In this town, we'll discover the community's daily activities: weaving, agriculture, and fishing. Plus, we'll learn about their traditional clothing and enjoy the lake's beautiful beaches.
After a delicious lunch at a family home, we'll return to Puno and drop you off at your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes after 8 hours.
2-Day Tour
If you have more time, we recommend booking a 2-day tour to spend a night in Llachon. In this case, instead of heading to Llachon on a speedboat, we'll use an off-roading vehicle to embark on a 1 hour and 45-minute journey filled with stunning landscapes.
Once we reach the town, you'll be welcomed by the community, where you'll settle into the rooms of local homes. Then, our hosts will teach us the ancient techniques used in textile making, from wool extraction to the use of natural dyes, as well as their traditional clothing. Next, we'll immerse ourselves in the traditional farming and fishing practices, where you'll learn the techniques to harvest and fish in the lake.
After a homemade lunch, you can explore the lake's beaches and climb up to the viewpoint to enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Titicaca and the islands of Taquile and Amantani. Once you return to the house, you can join the members of the community to take care of the cattle.
At night, the community will invite you to dress up in traditional clothing to experience their ancestral traditions in a unique way. Afterward, we'll huddle around a campfire to enjoy music and an infusion of aromatic herbs.
The next day, after a traditional breakfast, we'll begin our journey back to Puno and say our goodbyes at your hotel around 10 am.
