Santa Teresa and Historic Rio Tour
We will collect you from the hotels in Rio at the arranged time and then we head to one of the most famous and beautiful hills in the city. Following a brief trajectory, we will arrive at the neighbourhood of Santa Teresa.
We start our tour by learning about the history of this zone of Rio. Did you know that this neighbourhood experienced its golden heyday at the beginning of the 20th century? You can see evidence of this in the elegant mansions nestled in the hillside woodlands. The colourful streets and their beautiful little palaces are an enchanting sight.
Our route will take us to the most iconic locations of this vivid corner of Rio, such as the Selaron Steps, which are a symbol of the bohemian life which characterizes this district. In fact, it is often referred to as the ‘Carioca Montmartre’. We will also cross the Lapa Arches, an 18th-century aqueduct that still today serves as a boundary between the neighbourhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa.
During the tour of the neighbourhood, you will also see the striking yellow trams, another of Santa Teresa’s iconic features. You should return one afternoon on your trip, when it as at its liveliest, to climb aboard one and explore the neighbourhood further.
To finish, we will head into the centre of Rio de Janeiro, where we will encounter November 15 Square, located in an area that was totally revitalized for the 2016 Olympic Games.
At the end of the tour, we will return you to your hotel.
