Activity Details
We'll meet at a strategic spot near the Colosseum. There, we'll welcome you and assist you with your tickets and downloading the audio guide to your mobile phone.
After a brief historical introduction, we'll accompany you to the entrance of the Colosseum. This way, you'll avoid the long ticket-office lines and head straight to the security check to access one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Are you ready to discover all its secrets?
Once inside the Flavian Amphitheatre, you'll be free to explore every corner at your own pace using the audio guide. After visiting the Colosseum, you may continue on your own to the archaeological area of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. The best part? You'll explore these three spots at your own pace!
What Will You See During the Visit?
- The Colosseum: Relive the era of gladiators and the fights against wild beasts in the Flavian Amphitheatre. Learn the secrets of its engineering, from the sophisticated pulley system to how the 50,000 spectators who filled its stands to watch the bloodiest spectacles of antiquity were managed.
- The Roman Forum: You'll walk through the true political, judicial, and religious heart of the city. Among the marble ruins, you'll discover landmarks such as the Temple of Saturn, the House of the Vestals, and the Arch of Titus, places where the fate of the Empire was decided.
- The Palatine Hill: You'll climb the most central of Rome's seven hills, the birthplace of the legend of Romulus and Remus. You’ll stroll among the remains of luxurious imperial residences and enjoy unbeatable panoramic views of the Circus Maximus and the Forum below. Photo opportunity!
What's more, you may stay inside the archaeological complex until closing time, enjoying Rome’s history at your leisure and with complete independence.
Admission to the Colosseum + Arena
During the booking process, you can choose the admission ticket with access to the Arena. In this case, you'll also be able to access the level where gladiator combats and wild animal hunts took place. You'll find yourself on the actual stage where the spectacles that both fascinated and terrified the ancient Romans unfolded.
You'll walk on a partial reconstruction of the original wooden floor, from where you'll enjoy a privileged view of the stands and understand how the games were organized from the very heart of the amphitheater.
Plus, with this option, you'll have access to a digital recreation and narration of the ancient races at the Circus Maximus. Through this immersive experience, you'll discover what this colossal venue was like and relive the excitement of the chariot races that thrilled all of Rome. In this way, you'll learn how the factions operated, the strategies of the charioteers, and the social and political significance of these events.
