Savour the wine-producing side of Argentina when you visit Cafayate, which produces some of the most popular wines in the north of the country.
Cafayate Day Trip Itinerary
We will collect you early in the morning from your hotel before heading to the ghost town of Alemania, the first stop on our tour. This settlement earned its name - which means Germany in Spanish - from the German construction workers who built the initial railway line connecting Salta to the Calchaquí Valleys. Here you will admire the colonial architecture and the railway station which will give some clues about Germany’s history. We then continue the tour to other towns in the region, such as Cerrillos, El Carril, and Coronel Moldes.
We will then make a stop at the Quebrada de La Conchas mountain range, where millennia of erosion has carved peculiar rock formations: the castle, the toad, the devil, and the amphitheatre. After taking some photos of these curiosities of nature, we will depart for Cafayate, one of the most famous wine-producing towns in northern Argentina.
In Cafayete, we'll visit a local winery to learn the secrets of Argentine wine, one of the most respected in the world due to its quality and huge variety. You will also have a tasting of Torrontés wine, the delicious grape which is grown in the Valley of Cafayate. Afterwards, you will have free time to eat lunch and explore this wine-producing city at your own leisure.
In the evening, we will start the return journey to Salta, where you'll be dropped back off at your hotel.
