San Francisco Food Tour

Experience the vibrant culture of San Francisco's oldest neighbourhood, enjoying tasty local treats and admiring cool street art on this food tour of the Mission District. What are you waiting for?

San Francisco Food Tour

After meeting your local guide, kick off your food tour of the Mission District in true San Fran style: enjoying a steaming cup of coffee and a delicious donut at Dynamo Donuts. These aren't just any donuts though - they're locally-made artisan loops of dough in an eclectic range of flavours including maple bacon apple and carrot cake. Hope you're hungry!

Full of energy after a tasty breakfast, you'll set off from your meeting point to begin exploring this hip neighbourhood, the oldest of San Francisco's districts. You'll get to know the city's typical dishes and locals' favourite food stops.

Embrace the influence of Latino culture that gives the area such charm at the next stop on your Mission District food tour, as you pop into a local Mexican panaderia. Here, you'll sample the bakery's pan dulce, or sweet bread, freshly oven-baked every day, and washed down with an agua fresca, a blended fruit drink.

Continue your route along Balmy Avenue, where you'll have the opportunity to see the neighbourhood's artistic side. Marvel at the many murals that street artists have painted on the buildings here over the past thirty years, as your guide explains the different messages behind each incredible piece of artwork.

The next stop on your tour will be to sample a truly American dessert - it's time for pie! The local pie shop offers almost every flavour imaginable. Strawberry, rhubarb, sweet potato, chocolate, or a savoury quiche... which will you choose?

With full stomachs and content taste buds, you'll hop on a bus (ticket not included) to travel down to the heart of Mission Street, where you'll find the food for which the area is most famous - tacos. Visit the oldest taquerias in the city and give in to your cravings, sampling tacos al pastor, filled with grilled Mexican spiced meat.

Walk off all the delicious food you've tasted with a stroll down Clarion Alley, where you'll see yet more colourful graffiti. Like Balmy Ave, the vibrant street art isn't just for decoration, and each mural has its own story to tell. Finally, discover the most hipster area in the Mission District, grabbing one last snack at a trendy bakery.

Your food tour of San Francisco Mission will end at Dolores Park.
