Explore the sacred mountains of Phnom Kulen with this trip from Siem Reap. Discover beautiful nature, traditional culture, and ancient pagodas in just one day.
Phnom Kulen Trip
We will collect you from your hotel in Siem Reap early in the morning before heading north about 30 miles until we reach Phnom Kulen, considered a holy mountain in Cambodia.
Phnom Kulen National Park is home to the ruins of the ancient city of Mahendraparvata. Our guide will show you around every corner of this sacred place while you learn all about its fascinating history.
In Phnom Kulen, you will encounter the curious River of a Thousand Lingas, with a beautiful hand-carved riverbed, sculpted by local inhabitants during the 19th Century. There are also traditional Apsara figures and religious Vishnu statues hidden under the water.
Our guided tour of Phnom Kulen continues at the Preah Ang Thom Pagoda, and the summit of the mountain where we will encounter the giant reclining Buddha. We will spend some time admiring the architecture of the pagoda which is magnificently built into the rock surface of the mountain.
The next stop is the Kulen waterfall where you will be able to enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural pool and regain your strength with a full picnic meal. Finally, we will stop at a local village to learn about the production of palm sugar thanks to the residents there.
We will return to the hotels in Siem Reap around approximately 5 pm.
