Embrace rural Cambodian life discovering an incredible traditional floating village. Immerse yourself in the local culture of this unique setting on this excursion from Siem Reap.
Floating Village Tour Itinerary
On the morning of your tour, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap and head to the river port where you'll climb on board a boat. As you cruise up the river, leaving the tourist trail behind and delving deep into rural Cambodia, you'll pass the luscious green rice paddies that are so essential to the country's economy.
Sailing up the river, you'll reach the traditional Cambodian pagodas, markets and houses where local people live their daily lives - with a difference. The wooden buildings that make up the village of Kampong Phluk are constructed upon stilts in the Tonle Sap Lake, making it a true floating village.
You'll discover how people live in this unique setting, and hear all about the importance of the different seasons in their routines. In certain months of the year, rising and falling water levels completely change how the locals - a population of around 3000 people - live and work.
At the end of this incredible experience, you'll be taken back to your hotel in Siem Reap.
