Tarifa Walking Tour

At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of the Puerta de Jerez to start this walking tour of Tarifa. Welcome to the southernmost point of Europe! Will you join us on this interesting tour?

Once we're all together, we'll start with an introduction about the city, called by the Muslims 'AI-Yazirat Tarif'. Did you know that throughout history it has been an important strategic and border point? We'll walk to the church of San Mateo Apostle to admire its impressive facade and style.

We'll also see part of the city wall, which has been incredibly well preserved throughout time. We'll also visit Puerta del Retiro before heading to the Moral neighbourhood, where we'll see the typical patios of Tarifa.

The next stop will take place at the Castle of Guzmán el Bueno, one of the great monumental jewels of Tarifa. This fortress was ordered to be built by Abderramán III,  an Umayyad prince who reigned as Emir of Cordoba and later Caliph of Cordoba, from 912 to 961 CE. The castle is located on a high ledge next to the sea, dominating the city. The views from there are breathtaking!

In addition, we'll pass close to some of Tarifa's most beautiful beaches, among which Playa Chica stands out. Its idyllic and extensive coastline, whipped by the easterly wind, makes the Cadiz town a place of worship for fans of water sports such as kitesurfing, flysurfing, paddle surfing or scuba diving.

After 2 hours, we'll say goodbye on the island of Las Palomas, where you can see Phoenician remains. See you next time!
