Mexico's captivating region of Los Tuxtlas is full of magic and mysticism. Discover it for yourself when you take our fantastic trip from Veracruz. Along the way, you will even meet the friendly monkeys of Catemoco.
Tuxtlas and Catemaco Trip
At 8 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Veracruz before heading south towards Santiago Tuxtla.
After driving for around two and a half hours, we will arrive in the beautiful region of Los Tuxtlas. The first stop is in Santiago Tuxtla to admire the largest Olmec head in the south of the country. This giant stone sculpture will amaze you.
Then we go to San Andrés Tuxtla, where we visit a cigar factory. We will explore the different facilities and learn about the processes involved in making this famous local product. We will also stop at the factory shop so you can buy one as a souvenir of your trip.
After the visit to the factory, we will set off for Eyipantla Falls, an impressive waterfall with a drop of more than 160 feet. As your senses are assaulted by the sight and sound of these amazing cascades, you can capture the moment forever on your camera.
Our journey continues, traveling to the beautiful town of Catemaco. Once we arrive, we will board a boat and enjoy a wonderful trip on the Laguna Encantada (Enchanted Lagoon). We will explore the waters and visit idyllic islets, such as Monkey Island and Heron Island, where you will meet the friendly inhabitants
When the boat ride is over, you will have around one and a half hours of your own free time to taste the tasty cuisine in one of the local restaurants.
Then, feeling reenergized, we'll start the return trip to Veracruz where we drop you back at your hotel at around 8:30 p.m.
