At the designated time, we'll meet at 190 High Street. Located right next to Parliament Square and St Giles' Cathedral, at this starting point, we'll set the scene and explain why Edinburgh has always been shrouded in mystery, from its Celtic roots to the harsh conditions inside the walled city, marked by plague and crime.
We'll move on to the Mercat Cross, once the site of public executions and exemplary punishments, and discover how historical justice in Scotland fuelled some of the city's most chilling tales.
From there, we'll step into the Closes, the historic alleyways of the Old Town, where legends of the 1824 fire, mysterious apparitions, and characters such as Johnny "One Arm" still echo through the stone.
Our next stop is Tron Kirk, an old church and gathering place where the atmosphere shifts. Here we'll cover low-intensity paranormal phenomena and the curious accounts that still raise questions today.
We'll then cross North Bridge, a structure with a tragic history that has been surrounded by superstition since its construction, associated with unsettling presences and a loch tied to the devil.
The route continues to Calton Cemetery, where we'll walk among historic graves and explore the intersection of death, memory, and paranormal activity, as documented events blur into the inexplicable.
After 2 hours, we'll wrap up the tour at Calton Hill, with the city spread out below us.
