Private Tour of Lucerne
At a time of your choice, we'll meet at your hotel in Lucerne or at another central location in the city.
We'll start our private tour of Lucerne with a walk through the historic centre of the city, home to the Kapellbrücke, or Chapel Bridge. Did you know that it is one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe? Spanning the River Reuss, the monument dates backs to the 14th century, and today is one of the most photographed places in the city.
Next to the footbridge, you'll see the Wasserturm or Water Tower, which has become another of the symbols of the old town. We'll then cross the Kapellbrücke to the other bank of the river Reuss, where we'll see the Altes Rathaus: the old Town Hall of Lucerne, which was built in the 16th century in the Florentine Renaissance style.
We'll continue our private tour of Lucerne with a visit to the Lion Monument. The figure of this dying animal, the work of the artist Bertel Thorvaldsen, pays tribute to the more than 700 members of the Swiss Guard who lost their lives in the French Revolution, during the defense of the Tuileries Palace.
Next to the sculpture is the Lucerne Glacier Garden, an ancient cave that holds many secrets. After delving into its history, we'll take a tranquil walk along the shores of the Lake of the Four Cantons.
After two hours of sightseeing, we will conclude the tour in the city centre.
