Tour guide was so amazing and knowledgeable about the city and its history. This tour was a wonderful introduction to Oaxaca and I went back to many places along the way to buy bread, chocolate, as well as visit the markets he took us to. Absolutely recommend as a way to orient you to the city.

Discover the magical city of Oaxaca, admiring the colonial architecture and diving into the Mexican tradition which can be found in each one of its corners. What's more, it's free!

Free Walking Tour of Oaxaca

The tour meets in front of the Alcala National Theatre from where we'll begin this guided tour. Our expert guide will explain all the detail regards the monuments we visit, as well as the stories and legends which Oaxaca hides.

Next, it's on to the Santo Domingo de Guzman Church, the most impressive in all of Oaxaca, built by the Dominican friars in their mission to evangelize Oaxaca. Having enjoyed its stunning façade, we make our way to the Oaxaca Graphic arts institute - America's third-largest graphic arts library!

Finally, the tour makes a visit to the Arquitos de Xochimilco, a workshop where works of political art are made, later to be used during social events in Oaxaca. Totally unmissable!

After two and a half hours walking around Oaxaca and discovering its secrets, this free tour comes to an end back at the starting point.

Group Sizes

Bookings for more than six people are not permitted on this tour. If you are a group larger than six, we recommend the private tour of Oaxaca.
