Loire Valley Castles Day Trip

Information in English, French, and Spanish was provided much more frequently and in greater volumes than information in Portuguese. It was unfortunate having to ask the guide for information. Everyone deserves the same attention.

Loire Valley Castles Day Trip

We'll meet at the indicated time in front of the Pullman Paris Bercy Hotel and, from this point, we'll head south to the famous châteaus of the Loire Valley. The journey will take us close to 3 hours.

Once we arrive in the Loire Valley, we'll visit two of the following castles:

  • Château de Chenonceau

Chenonceau is known as the “The Ladies’ Castle. It was established in 1513 by Katherine Briçonnet, remodelled by Diana de Poitiers and by Catherine de Medici and saved from the French Revolution by Madame Dupin. Throughout the centuries, women have preserved it from any conflict, making it a haven of peace.

  • Château de Chambord

Chambord is one of the largest castles in the region and one of the most visited due to its French Renaissance design. It was constructed for King Francis I of France in 1519. Initially, it was to be one of his hunting grounds. In 1981, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After visiting the last palace, you’ll return by coach and arrive in central Paris at 8:30 pm. On Saturdays, you’ll arrive a little later.

  • Château de Cheverny

The Château de Cheverny, a Renaissance-style palace listed as a World Heritage Site, is one of the most famous in the Loire Valley and belongs to the Hurault family, known in Blois since the 13th century. Its architecture inspired the cartoonist Hergé to create the famous Castle of Moulinsart, which appears in the Tintin comics.

We'll visit one castle or another depending on the season and availability. In any case, we'll spend an average of 2 hours at each palace. We'll travel by coach between the two castles, stopping in the area for approximately 1 hour so that you can have lunch on your own.

After visiting the two castles on the itinerary, we'll return to the meeting point in Paris, where we'll conclude this 12.5-hour activity.
