Hike Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Praia to begin this exciting adventure. In about 20 minutes, we'll reach the starting point in Ribeira Grande and discover a spectacular natural site. Make sure your shoes are on tight, the hike is starting!
During this 2.48-mile (4-kilometer) hike, we'll walk along trails surrounded by sugarcane plantations, banana trees, mangos, coconut trees, and papayas. As you walk, we'll tell you how the locals harvest and process grogue, Cape Verde's famous national beverage.
Our hike will take us to a stunning baobab over 400 years old. This ancient tree is both a testament to history and an icon of the island's scenery. If you're lucky, you can spot grey-headed kingfishers, the national bird of Cape Verde, as nature surrounds us. Don't forget your camera!
This 2-hour hike will end at Cidade Velha, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the cradle of the Cape Verdean nation.
Finally, we'll return to Praia and say our goodbyes at your hotel 4 hours after pickup.
