San Francisco Chinatown Tour
Immerse yourself in the incredible fusion of cultures found in San Francisco on this guided tour of Chinatown, one of the world's largest Chinese enclaves outside Asia. You'll also visit North Beach, the city's very own Little Italy.
San Francisco Chinatown Tour Itinerary
Meet your guide at the scheduled time at the entrance to Chinatown, the beautiful Dragon's Gate standing proudly on the corner of Grant Avenue and Bush Street. From here, you'll begin your walking tour of one of the oldest and largest Chinese enclaves in the United States.
Lose yourself in Chinese culture as you explore this fascinating neighbourhood. Take in the sight of vibrantly colourful temples, buildings with signs in Chinese language, restaurants and shops offering all manner of produce. You'll make a stop at the city's oldest Chinese bakery, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional treat so good that even former US President Bill Clinton has popped in to try one - an authentic mooncake.
Continuing your route through the lively streets of San Francisco's Chinatown, you'll pass a number of street performance artists who entertain visitors to the area. Visit the oldest temple in North America, in Waverly Place, before getting to know the history of the fortune cookie and trying one for yourself - will your fortune come true? Wash it down with a Chinese tea tasting session where you'll learn all about this traditional Asian drink.
Leaving Chinatown, you'll move on to another cultural enclave of San Francisco: North Beach. This neighbourhood is known as Little Italy thanks to its historically large Italian American population. Stroll past cute cafes and independent boutiques, and visit City Lights Bookstore and other favourite hangouts of Beat Generation poets like Jack Kerouac, who lived in the area.
The final stop on your route will be Washington Square Park, where the tour will end.
