Surround yourself with the natural beauty of the Andes on this full-day excursion from Santiago de Chile. Visit picturesque Cajón de Maipo and let yourself be captivated by the spectacular landscapes of the El Yeso reservoir.
Cajón del Maipo & El Yeso Day Trip
Having picked you up from your hotel around 6 am, we'll leave Santiago behind and hit the road southwards to the Cajón del Maipo. Did you know that this Andean canyon is considered the region's green lung?
Our first stop is San José de Maipo, a town declared a national monument for its colonial buildings, and here you'll have some free time to eat breakfast. Then we'll hit the road again, heading to the old El Melocotón train station and visiting the Tinoco Tunnel, a mythical rail tunnel which connected the Alto Bridge with the San José volcano.
Continuing onwards, we'll delve into the Andes mountains, making a 20 minute stop at the Yeso River viewpoint to enjoy the panoramic views over the sparkling waters and the imposing snow-capped mountains surrounding you. Back on the road, we'll make our way to the El Yeso reservoir.
Here you'll discover the beautiful hidden waterfall and explore the natural environment at your own leisure for two hours.
At the end of an unforgettable day, you'll head back to Santiago, making a stop on the way at La Casa de Chocolate, or "The House of Chocolate", before being dropped back off at your hotel at 5 pm.
