Beautiful Neoclassical architecture and vibrant street art: explore Santiago de Chile's historic centre and discover the city's most emblematic monuments on this free walking tour.

Santiago de Chile Free Walking Tour Itinerary

Begin your free walking tour of Santiago de Chile immersing yourself in the city's artistic side: meet in front of the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts in the heart of the historic centre. From there, you'll delve deep into the winding streets of the city in search of the best urban art, discovering the most emblematic murals that bring their vibrant colours to the capital.

Walk towards the legendary Plaza de Armas next, Santiago's main square. The contrast of historic and contemporary buildings make this area one of the most interesting and most visited places in the Chilean capital. You'll head into the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral next, admiring its stunning Neoclassical exterior and the breathtaking frescoes of its ceiling. A true work of art!

Your free walking tour will then take you on a stroll through Santiago's most cosmopolitan streets in the direction of La Moneda Palace, where your guide will tell you all about some of the most important events of Chile's modern history, from the 1973 Military Coup to the political events that take place in La Moneda today. You'll also learn about the country's coffee culture, one of the most unusual in Latin America.

Finally, your tour will come to an end at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre, a favourite haunt of the city's youngest residents. Here, your guide will advise you as to the best places to head to next on your travels around Santiago de Chile.
