ColombiaWith this ticket to the Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance, you can explore the exhibition with an audio guide and learn about the history of the Trujillo dictatorship.
The Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance is located at 210 Arzobispo Nouel Street, in the heart of Santo Domingo's historic center. This museum is dedicated to preserving the memory of those who bravely fought against the dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, which lasted from 1930 to 1961.
With your ticket, you'll explore the museum’s permanent exhibition, guided by an audio tour. Through this experience, you’ll delve into the history of the Trujillo dictatorship and learn about the Dominicans who resisted the regime.
The exhibition traces the origins of this period, beginning with the first U.S. intervention in the Dominican Republic in 1916, and continuing through the end of Joaquín Balaguer’s dictatorship in 1978, which succeeded Trujillo’s regime.
The museum features detailed panels displaying photographs, press clippings, documents, and artifacts from that time. Highlights include a hologram and an animatronic dramatization of Manolo Tavárez Justo—a lawyer, political leader, revolutionary, and guerrilla fighter.
Don’t miss the museum’s courtyard, where a poster with the slogan “Memory, Truth, Justice” serves as a powerful reminder of its mission.
Santo Domingo's Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 6 pm.
