No trip to Lithuania is complete without visiting the beautiful region of Trakai. With this fantastic kayak tour, you will discover the magnificent castle, sail on the idyllic Galvé lake, and much much more. This is an experience you will never forget!
Kayak Tour of Trakai
At the selected time, we will meet up at Vilnius train station, before heading to the Trakai Historical National Park, about a 30-minute drive away.
Upon arriving, you will find you have traveled back in time to the glorious era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Magnificent Trakai Castle, in the middle of Glave lake, looks just as it did in the 14th-century. The reddish color of the bricks contrasts spectacularly with the blue waters and green vegetation of the surrounding islands. There is no better way to explore this environment than on board a kayak, enjoying exclusive views of the stunning surroundings.
At the dock, we will learn some basic safety rules and paddling techniques before boarding the kayak. Then it is time to paddle out and explore some of the 20 lakes that are found in Trakai.
We will reach the lake Galvė, where the famous Trakai Castle is located. This amazing castle, unlike most medieval fortress buildings, does not have excessively high walls protecting it. The reason for this is its location on an island in the middle of the lake, which provides sufficient defense.
After seeing the castle, we will head to a small island where we disembark and enjoy a well-earned rest. You can bring your own snack or if you prefer when making the reservation you can choose the option that includes a picnic of fruit, chips, tuna fish pate, nuts, chocolate, tea, and coffee.
Feeling fully recharged after the break, we will return to the dock where our adventure ends. Then we return to Vilnius after this fantastic day of nature and history.
