Coyoacán is the most bohemian neighbourhood in Mexico City, which was home to great artists such as Frida Kahlo. Get to know its history with this free tour.

Free Walking Tour of Coyoacán

Our guided tour of Coyoacán, one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods in the Mexican capital, begins at the interior ticket offices in the metro station Viveros/Derechos Humanos. From here we'll head up Avenida Universidad, to the Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua, one of the most beautiful examples of baroque architecture in Mexico.

Our free tour the continues past several important cultural institutions in the neighbourhood: the Fonoteca Nacional (dedicated to preserving the musical heritage of the country) and the National Watercolour Museum. Entry to both is free, so when the tour is over you can take a look around either at your own pace.

Our guided tour of Coyoacán then continues to the mysterious "Avacado Alley", which hides a terrible history... Then before finishing our tour of the historic centre of the neighbourhood, we'll head to the Centenary Garden to admire the architectural flourishes present on the parish church of Saint John the Baptist and discover some of the unusual anecdotes about the famous figures to have graced the area. Among those are Hernán Cortés and the artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. We'll pass alongside their old houses, as your guide tells you more about their lives!
