Paso de Cortés Hiking Excursion

We will meet at 7 am at Michoacán Market in Mexico City. From there, we'll hop on a minibus which will take us to Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.

When we arrive, we'll head straight for the Paso de Cortés trail, a mountain pass between the Popocatépetl and Ixtaccíhuatl volcanoes. Together, we'll hike a total of 11 kilometers through the picturesque wilderness, admiring areas with volcanic rock, rivers and waterfalls. 

Along the way, it won't be difficult to spot the local fauna. As we enjoy views of the landscape dominated by dense coniferous forests, we'll see local residents like coatis and volcano rabbits (also known as teporingo or zacatuche). Fun fact: volcano rabbits are the world's second-smallest rabbit species! 

Before we head back to Mexico City, the group will refuel with a light lunch, including a sandwich, fruit, an energy bar and water.

Then, we'll return to the minibus and make our way back to the meeting point, arriving around 6 pm.
