1. Playa Delfines

Playa Delfines is widely considered the most beautiful beach in Cancun’s Hotel Zone. You’ll find it around km 18 of Kukulcán Boulevard, and since there are no hotels on this stretch, you get a long, open view of the Caribbean with nothing but sand and sky. Entry is free, like every beach in Mexico.

Above the beach, El Mirador viewpoint is home to the colorful CANCÚN sign, one of the most photographed spots in the city. The waves here can be strong, so it’s better for sunbathing, walking and photos than for swimming, and it’s worth checking the flag color at the lifeguard towers before you go in. 2. Playa Marlín

Around km 13, Playa Marlín is a wide, soft stretch of sand close to the shops and restaurants of the Kukulcán Plaza area. 3. Playa Chac Mool

Named after the replica of a Maya Chac Mool statue that stands near the entrance, this beach sits around km 10, just south of Punta Cancún. It’s one of the liveliest beaches in the Hotel Zone, close to the nightlife district, with bright white sand and deep turquoise water. It gets busy on weekends, so arrive early for a good spot.

4. Playa Gaviota Azul

Right next to Chac Mool, around km 9.5, Playa Gaviota Azul sits in the middle of Cancun’s party zone. It’s popular with a younger crowd and with water sports fans, since the waves here are some of the best for bodyboarding in the Hotel Zone. Swimmers should stay close to shore and watch the currents.

6. Playa Tortugas

Around km 6.5, Playa Tortugas is one of the busiest beaches on the bay side, with a pier, beach bars and plenty of water sports on offer. 7. Playa Langosta
