Colorful colonial façades and an unparalleled historical legacy await you on this free tour of Antigua Guatemala, a truly captivating city.

Antigua Free Walking Tour

At 2 pm, we'll meet at Plaza Mayor to begin our free walking tour of Antigua Guatemala, a city declared a World Heritage Site.

To start, we'll stroll to the center of the square to see the Las Sirenas Fountain and learn about the two legends behind this monument. We'll also walk under the Portal de las Panaderas, a corridor of colonial-era arches.

Next, we'll see the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales and talk about the damage this imposing structure suffered from the Santa Marta earthquakes. We'll continue our journey through colonial times as we pass by the City Hall building, the Cathedral of Santiago de Guatemala and the façade of the old University of San Carlos.

Afterward, we'll check out the Church of San Pedro with its Baroque and Solomonic details and visit one of the city's most emblematic old public washing spaces, Tanque La Unión.

Next, we'll admire the ruins of the Santa Clara Convent, the façade of the Church of San Francisco and the Mesoamerican Jade Museum, where we'll explain why this precious stone is so important in Guatemala. Finally, we will visit the handicrafts market, where we're sure you won't be able to resist taking home a souvenir!

We'll conclude the free tour of Antigua Guatemala at 4:30 pm at the last point we visit.
