Lake Atitlan Tour & Boat Trip
Discover Guatemala's indigenous cultures and Mayan traditions on this day trip to Lake Atitlán from the capital city. Explore Panajachel and enjoy a cruise to Santiago de Atitlán!
Lake Atitlan Tour & Boat Trip
Having picked you up from your hotel in Guatemala City on the morning of your tour, we'll set off towards the Guatemalan Highlands in the direction of Panajachel, the largest town on the shores of Lake Atitlán, one of the most picturesque and touristic areas of the country.
Arriving in Panajachel after around a three hour drive, we'll board a board for a tranquil cruise across Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
During our boat trip, we'll enjoy unique panoramic views over the lakeside landscapes. Admire the three volcanoes which surround the lake: Tolimán, Atitlán and San Pedro, while our guide reveals curious facts about the area.
We'll disembark in Santiago de Atitlán, one of the most famous towns around the lake, where we'll have the opportunity to learn all about the traditional way of life of the locals, the majority of whom are Tzʼutujil people, one of the many different Maya ethnic groups who live in Guatemala. Discover the local indigenous traditions and beliefs, from the beautifully embroidered tunics handmade here, to the unique fusion of Mayan and Catholic religions practised.
After exploring the streets of Santiago, we'll take the boat back to Panajachel. You'll have free time here to eat a typical Guatemalan meal (not included) and to see more of the town at your own pace.
We'll then make the return journey to hotels in Guatemala City for around 7 pm.
