São Paulo Free Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Praça da República. From there, we'll begin our free tour to discover the most iconic sites in São Paulo's historic centre. Let's go!
First, we'll admire the impressive buildings around us, such as the Italia building, the second-tallest skyscraper in the city at 168 m (551 ft) high. We'll also see the Copan building, designed by the iconic architect Oscar Niemeyer. It's home to more than 5,000 residents, the equivalent of a small town!
Next, we'll walk to the Municipal Library, the second-largest public library in Brazil, and the Municipal Theatre. Did you know that the main chandelier in the theatre's concert hall has 7,000 crystals, 220 light bulbs and weighs one and a half tonnes? Impressive, right?
We'll continue the free tour along the Viaduto do Chá, named after the tea from India that grew in the area in the 19th century. We'll also talk about the key scenes of major political movements in Brazilian history in front of the Faculty of Law.
Afterwards, we'll stop at one of the most important landmarks in São Paulo: the Catedral da Sé. It's considered the fourth-largest neo-Gothic temple in the world, despite its Renaissance-style dome.
Our tour will also take us to Pátio do Colégio, the São Paulo Stock Exchange, Farol Santander, and the Martinelli building. When the latter was inaugurated in 1929, it was the first skyscraper in Latin America.
Finally, we'll arrive at the São Bento Monastery, where we'll end the free tour after 3 hours and 20 minutes.
