Segovia & Ávila Day Trip
Segovia & Ávila Day Trip
We'll meet at the meeting point in Madrid and leave the Spanish capital, heading north to reach Castile. Both Segovia and Ávila, declared World Heritage Sites, offer a journey through time from the Roman period to the splendor of the Middle Ages.
Once we arrive in Segovia, we'll see the majestic Roman aqueduct, which measures 10 mi (16 km) long and has withstood the test of time for over 2000 years. You can stroll through the streets of the old Jewish quarter and see the Segovia Cathedral, known as the "Dama de las Catedrales Españolas"(Lady of the Spanish Cathedrals).
You'll see the Alcázar of Segovia, a castle where the different kings and queens of Castile lived. Did you know it's said that Walt Disney was inspired by the fortress to create Snow White's castle?
Ávila, the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Ávila, houses the oldest and most complete city walls in Spain.
We'll stroll around Ávila's old town and discover its Gothic palaces, Romanesque churches, and its stunning fortified cathedral. Depending on the option you choose, you can walk around the cathedral's walls or visit churches like the Basílica de San Vicente or the Convento de Santa Teresa.
Finally, after about 9 hours filled with culture and architecture, we'll start our journey back to Madrid.
