The Cave People Tour
The Cave People Tour
Are you curious about Icelandic history? Can you imagine what it would've been like to live in an ancient cave house 100 years ago? If you're staying in Laugarvatn, don't miss out on The Cave People, where you'll discover what everyday life was like for people living in Iceland's caves.
At your chosen time, we'll meet at the entrance of The Cave People and start our tour. We'll tell you lots of interesting facts about these caves, which were created by Irish monks in 874 and later used by shepherds, herdsmen and their families. You'll spend 30 minutes visiting the different rooms and learning about their history.
In addition, you'll find out how the families who once lived here were able to thrive thanks to the travellers who passed through the Golden Circle. The museum's wonderful actors will also help you to get a better idea of what a day in a cave house was like - we're sure you'll leave with a new perspective on Iceland's past!
