At the indicated time, we'll meet near the Praça Castro Alves to begin our fascinating walking tour through the history of Salvador de Bahia. From this square, you'll enjoy beautiful views over the bay as we introduce the city and its heritage.
On this tour, we'll explore some of the most emblematic areas of Salvador's Historic Center. We'll stroll along Rua Chile, considered the oldest street in Brazil, where colonial architecture blends with the rhythm of modern city life. We'll also visit Praça da Sé, a historic crossroads filled with monuments, cultural life, and traditional street activity that reflects the city's rich past.
The route also includes Terreiro de Jesus, one of the most important squares in Pelourinho, surrounded by historic buildings and churches that showcase Salvador's religious and architectural heritage. Nearby, we'll see the São Francisco complex, home to some of the finest examples of Brazilian Baroque architecture.
As we continue through Pelourinho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll walk through colorful streets known for their music, art, and cultural energy. This area is also associated with the sounds of Olodum and international cultural moments that helped bring Salvador's identity to the world.
We'll also see the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos, an important landmark built by Black communities, which stands as a symbol of faith, history, and resilience in the heart of the old town. This area is also where Michael Jackson filmed They Don’t Care About Us!
Finally, after between 1 hour and 45 minutes and 2 hours, we'll bring the tour to an end.
