Po di Volano Natural Reserve Boat Ride
Boat Ride Details
The activity will begin at the dock of San Paolo in Ferrara, in the heart of the city, and a few steps away from the castle. Here, we'll board a boat and start our journey through the canal that connects Ferrara with the Po River. Let's set sail!
As we sail, you'll admire from the boat how herons and bee-eaters live in harmony and how the urban landscape blends with nature. We'll pass the basin of Pontelagoscuro until we reach the Po River, the longest river in Italy.
We'll continue sailing through the beach of La Giarina, the former Isla Blanca, now the Oasis of Lipu, where you'll have the chance to observe a colony of herons. The Po di Volano, an ancient delta branch of the Po River. You'll see how it's a true natural sanctuary that flows into the Adriatic Sea.
The waterway we'll explore is part of the Po di Volano Natural Reserve, a protected space that features the Pineta di Volano and the Scanno di Volano, as well as the Lago delle Nazioni. It's a natural gem!
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Ferrara 2.5 hours later.
