Nora River Hiking Tour
Nora River Hiking Tour
We'll meet at the time of your choice in Lugar Priañes to start this hiking route that will take us along the meanders of the Nora River.
We'll start our way to a viewpoint located a few minutes from the centre of the town. This spot is a perfect 'natural balcony' from which we'll be able to admire the famous meanders of the Nora River. These formations are one of the best examples of the geological erosion of a river in the area.
We'll continue descending 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) along an old path that leads to the access road to the hydroelectric power station of the river Nora. There we'll be able to have a close look at this small power station that uses water to produce energy.
We'll continue the tour approaching the point where the River Nora joins the Nalón River, to continue along a beautiful path carved into the rock, surrounded by a lush forest. Here, we'll take a short break before continuing our walk.
After this break, we'll walk along an ascending path full of chestnut trees and pass through meadows where cattle graze peacefully. Before we know it, we'll close the circuit, reaching the Priañes park where we'll find a famous statue commemorating the illustrious Asturian actor Arturo Fernández.
We'll then reach the starting point, finishing the route after two hours of hiking.
