Night Tour of Alghero + Coral Museum
Night Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Piazza Porta Terra to begin our night tour of Alghero and discover its historic center. Let's go!
We'll first stop at the feet of the Torre di Porta, the only visible remnant today of the ancient walls that protected the city from within. Then, we'll head toward the Forte della Maddalena, a defensive structure from the 16th century named after the statue that once occupied a niche in the bastion.
After crossing the Piazza Civica, we'll reach the Piazza del Duomo, where you'll admire the spectacular Cathedral of St. Mary the Immaculate from both outside and inside. Then, we'll continue exploring the Jewish Quarter, located within the ancient walls of the city.
Our next stop will be at the Coral Museum. Inside the walls of a stunning Art Nouveau villa, you'll learn more about the rich tradition and history of Alghero. Did you know that this city has been closely tied to the Mediterranean's red coral for centuries? The Corallium Rubrum is now a symbol of the city, playing a significant part in its fame and wealth.
To wrap up our tour on a high note, we'll take part in a tasting of two regional wines in a bistro in the historic city center. Cheers!
Finally, between 2 and 2.5 hours later, we'll say goodbye at our starting point.
Additional Info
In the case that the Coral Museum is closed, we'll visit the aquarium located inside the exhibition complex.
