Private Tour of Almendralejo
Private Tour of Almendralejo Details
At the selected time, we'll meet at the Plaza de Toros to begin this private tour of Almendralejo, the City of Romanticism.
If we take into account the first settlement, the origins of Almendralejo date back to the 5th century BC, but it didn't develop as a town until the Middle Ages. The city reached its highest point of prosperity during the 16th century when Charles V granted it the title of "Muy Noble Villa".
We'll go over the history of Almendralejo by walking through its historic center and visiting the church of the Purification. You'll be amazed by the plateresque and Elizabethan decorations of its gothic façade!
Inside the temple, we'll check out the relics and works of art that it houses. We'll then continue traveling back in time to the Copper Age by visiting the archaeological site of Huerta Montero, a necropolis that will reveal the prehistoric past of the town.
Then we'll head to the 19th century, when two important Spanish literary figures were born in Almendralejo: José de Espronceda and Carolina Coronado. We'll see the house of the author of the famous Canción del pirata (Pirate's Song) and the theater dedicated to the romantic poetess.
After 3 hours of learning about this fascinating city's history, we'll end the tour in front of the Coronado Theater.
