Andorra es un pequeño país situado en los Pirineos, entre España y Francia. No tiene salida al mar y es un destino habitual para escapadas de montaña.
Andorra no tiene aeropuerto, los más cercanos son los de La Seu d’Urgell, Toulouse o Barcelona. Asimismo, las estaciones ferroviarias más cercanas son las de L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre o Lleida-Pirineus. Desde estos aeródromos y estaciones de tren se puede ir en autobús al Principado o bien, optar directamente por el vehículo particular.
Cualquier época es buena para visitar Andorra, aunque todo depende del motivo del viaje. De diciembre a marzo es ideal para esquiar, ya que el Principado de Andorra cuenta con algunas de las mejores estaciones de esquí de los Pirineos. En verano, de junio a septiembre, el país es perfecto para hacer senderismo, rutas en bicicleta y para practicar algunos deportes de aventura. La primavera y el otoño son más tranquilos y con menos turistas, aunque el clima puede ser más variable.
El idioma oficial de Andorra es el catalán. Sin embargo, también se habla habitualmente español, francés y portugués debido a la cercanía con estos países, a sus vínculos históricos y a la diversidad de su población. Dicho de otro modo, muchos andorranos son multilingües, especialmente en zonas turísticas.
Lejos de lo que se pueda pensar, Andorra nunca formó parte completamente ni de España ni de Francia. Desde la Edad Media, fue un co-principado gobernado conjuntamente por el obispo de Urgell (España) y el conde de Foix (Francia). Esta estructura se mantuvo durante siglos y evolucionó hacia un modelo independiente y neutral. En 1993, Andorra aprobó su primera Constitución, convirtiéndose en un estado soberano con un sistema parlamentario, aunque manteniendo a los copríncipes como jefes de Estado simbólicos.
