Excursion to Parnaíba

Description

At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Araioses and drive to the border between the Brazilian states of Maranhão and Piauí.

We'll arrive at Parnaíba, our destination, and begin a walking tour of the historic centre to discover the city and its main monuments. While we tell you about its prominent role in the economic development of the region since the 18th century, we'll see important buildings, squares and churches such as the Mãe da Divina Graça Cathedral.

Afterwards, we'll visit Porto das Barcas, a place that was once used to store goods to be exported to Europe. There we'll see how this area was converted into a cultural complex full of bars, restaurants and shops.

Next, you'll see the Museo do Mar​, an interpretation centre about the Parnaíba Delta, the third largest river mouth in the world. You'll get a lot of information about the regional history, the local fauna and the artisanal fishing methods. It will be very interesting!

Finally, we'll conclude the tour of Parnaíba by taking you back to your hotel in Araioses, where we'll arrive 3 hours after pickup.
