El Prado Neighborhood Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Parque Los Fundadores, and once we're all gathered, we'll begin this free walking tour of the neighborhood of El Prado. This district in Barranquilla is known for its large Neoclassical mansions with wide front gardens.
The planning project for this area began in 1920, when the city experienced an important economic growth. Then, the brothers and entrepreneurs Karl and Robert Parrish wanted to break with the rural origins of Barranquilla and build a neighborhood inspired by the large housing developments in the United States.
During the tour, we'll pass by its tree-lined avenues as we share the secrets and fun facts of the majestic buildings that decorate the neighborhood. Many of them preserve original details that will make you feel like you traveled back in time.
You'll also see some of the neighborhood's most interesting spots, like the Hotel El Prado, a symbol of luxury and modernity of early 20th-century Barranquilla. Plus, you'll admire the Inmaculada Concepción Parish and the Monument to the Flag, an important spot to commemorate the region's history and patriotism.
Finally, after 1 hour and 45 minutes, we'll say our goodbyes at the Parque Washington, concluding this free walking tour.
