Discover Santa Marta’s rich history and artistic heritage on a day trip from Barranquilla—one of the oldest cities in the Americas awaits!

Activity Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla at the indicated time and head east by minibus to Santa Marta, one of the oldest cities in America.

During the journey, which lasts approximately 2 hours, we'll recharge our batteries with a breakfast served on board consisting of a sandwich and juice, perfect for starting the day in the best possible way. Upon arrival in Santa Marta, we'll visit the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, where Simón Bolívar spent his last days. We'll tour its gardens and rooms while learning all about one of the most important figures in the region.

Next, we'll head to the Taganga viewpoint to enjoy unbeatable views of Samaria Bay and the mountains surrounding Santa Marta. You won't be able to stop taking photos! We'll descend to Santa Marta Bay and begin a tour of the old town to learn about its history and customs.

As we stroll through streets full of color and tradition, we'll visit the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta. Did you know that it's the oldest Cathedral in South America? Our next stop will be at the Tairona Gold Museum, located in the Casa de la Aduana. Here, we'll learn about the region's valuable indigenous and colonial heritage.

At midday, we'll go to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch, where traditional Colombian delicacies will be served. With our appetites satisfied, we'll explore the Rodadero area, a place where you will be surprised by the history of this famous tourist resort.

To round off the activity, we'll take you to the peaceful beaches of Bello Horizonte. Here, you'll have 2 hours of free time to relax in the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea and sunbathe on the fine white sand.

Finally, we'll return to the minibus and head back to your hotel in Barranquilla, where we'll arrive 12 hours later.
