Why Visit the Tsukán Cenote and Sanctuary?

The ancient Maya say that, since the beginning of time, the serpent Tsukán has lived among us, ruling over caves and cenotes, and guarding the continuous water cycle. The essence of this legend inspired the creation of the Tsukán sanctuary, a place that will bring you closer to Maya culture.

This area was also part of a network of villages that provided shelter to the families responsible for building Chichén Itzá, one of the world's wonders. Evidence of this history can still be found on the grounds, with more than 140 houses that were supplied with water from the Tsukán cenote.

With this admission ticket, you can enjoy the various experiences offered by this tourist complex, surrounded by the nature and endemic vegetation of  Yucatán. The most popular activity is swimming in the crystal-clear, refreshing waters.

You can also take part in the healing tree ceremony, embracing the pich tree that grows in the sanctuary. Next, we recommend visiting the garden and participating in the corn planting, a sacred food for the Maya.

Be sure to visit the Mayan House, a museum where you can learn about the customs of this ancient civilization. Don’t miss the Yucatán flavors workshop, where you can learn how to prepare a Yucatecan recado. This is a traditional seasoning that adds flavor and color to food.

Admission + Lunch

When booking, you can choose between two types of tickets: with or without food. If you select the ticket with food, you can enjoy a buffet lunch featuring typical Yucatecan cuisine. For drinks, you can choose between water, lemonade, horchata, and tamarind juice. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.
