Conversano & Rutigliano Tour
Conversano & Rutigliano Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of the Conversano Castle to start a tour through this medieval town.
In front of the imposing castle, a symbol of the town, we'll tell you all about the peculiarities of this Norman fortress. Once inside, we'll visit the reception rooms and the wedding hall of Count Giangirolamo II Acquaviva d'Aragona, called Guecio di Puglia.
The tour continues at the Monastery of San Benedetto di Conversano, where we'll check out the medieval cloister and the second cloister, a 17th-century arcade that houses the important archaeological exhibition of the civic museum. Before continuing, we'll stop in front of the Conversano Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, featuring Romanesque architecture.
Following the tour of the walls of Conversano, you'll follow the guide in your own vehicle to the next stop Rutigliano, where we'll participate in a walking tour of the historic center.
As we walk through its charming streets, we'll tell you all kinds of curiosities about the figurine tradition of Rutigliano. In particular, we'll talk about the undisputed protagonist of this ancient art, the whistle of Rutigliano. In fact, did you know that Rutigliano is known as the town of terracotta whistles?
After approaching the Norman castle and the town's main noble palaces, we'll conclude the tour at the meeting point in Conversano, five hours after departure.
