The guide, David, was excellent. Interesting, entertaining, and cultural... two and a half hours flew by... filled with history and anecdotes.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at number 14 Amaliegade to begin a very special free tour of Copenhagen. Would you like to see The Little Mermaid?

During this tour, we'll first pass by the Copenhagen Opera House, located opposite the harbour and famous for its avant-garde design and impeccable acoustics. From here, we'll head to St Alban's Church, the only Anglican church in Denmark, whose neo-Gothic style and location by the sea make it picture-postcard perfect. Ready to snap some photos?

Next, we'll head to the Amalie Gardens, an elegant green space connected to Amalienborg Palace, the official residence of the Danish royal family. Among its manicured paths, we'll learn more about Denmark's colonial history and the Fireburn Revolt, led by Mary Thomas in the Danish West Indies.

This will bring us to Kastellet Fortress, one of the oldest in Northern Europe. We'll stroll through this citadel and, upon exiting, we'll arrive at the Little Mermaid sculpture. The monument, which pays tribute to one of Hans Christian Andersen's most popular stories, has become an icon of the city. Be sure to snap a photo!

Nearby, we'll see the Gefion Fountain, which represents the goddess who, according to legend, created the island of Zealand with the help of her oxen.

We'll continue walking to Nyboder, Copenhagen's historic fishing district. Its rows of orange houses, dating back to 1757, were built to house members of the Royal Danish Navy.

Finally, we'll head to Kongens Have, The King's Garden, the city's oldest park, where we'll conclude this free tour after 2.5 hours.
